Indian Singers Rights Association receives its renewal registration certificate from Copyright Office for a further period of five years

The Copyright Office on October 10, 2018 has renewed the registration of the Indian Singers Rights Association (ISRA) for a further term of five years with effect from June 14, 2018. The renewal certificate can be viewed here.

In view of this renewal, ISRA has been permitted to carry on the copyright business in performer’s rights of singers and other activities ancillary thereto.

ISRA was the first registered copyright society in India post the Copyright Amendment Act, 2012 coming into effect. It had received its registration on June 14, 2013.

Meanwhile, the ISRA matters before the Delhi High Court have not moved forward in the last few hearings and are likely to be taken up on October 31, 2018.
